An actor from New Jersey, recognized primarily for his role in the “Resident Evil” video game series, has been charged with attempted murder. He allegedly shot at another driver in an incident of road rage that resulted in the lockdown of a nearby university.
Ernest Wesley Heinz, 48, reportedly confronted a woman after cutting her off while she was merging at a red light last Thursday, according to police reports.
Within moments, Heinz exited his vehicle, yelling at the female driver, reportedly threatening to kill her while she remained in her car, shaken.
“As they came up to the traffic light, he yelled at her, then reached out and fired one shot,” stated Mark Dajit-Leah from the Galloway Township Police Station.
The woman quickly called the police, saying she had been shot in the face during the encounter.
By the time officers arrived, Heinz had fled the scene. Thankfully, the woman had non-fatal injuries to her nose and was able to provide details about Heinz’s direction and description of his white Honda SUV.
Due to the situation, Stockton University implemented a lockdown lasting three hours while law enforcement searched for the aggressive driver.
Heinz was eventually apprehended at a nearby residence and charged with attempted murder. He is currently being held at the Atlantic County Judicial Facility and is set to have a court hearing this week.
Interestingly, police released a professional headshot of Heinz instead of a typical mugshot.
Since the incident, it’s worth noting that Heinz hasn’t participated in any projects related to the entertainment industry since a 2014 short film titled “The Soul of Blue Eye.” He is mostly remembered for an uncredited role in “The Sopranos” and for providing face models in two “Resident Evil” games.
