Reba McEntire and Rex Linn Are Engaged

Reba McEntire and her longtime partner, Rex Linn, have announced their engagement after five years of dating.

During an interview with E! Online, just before the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, reporters mentioned Linn as McEntire’s fiancé without any corrections from the couple. People magazine later confirmed the engagement.

McEntire’s representatives did not respond immediately to requests for comments.

Adventures and Humor in Their Relationship

Interestingly, the couple first crossed paths back in 1991 but only became more than friends in 2020, during McEntire’s appearance on “Young Sheldon.” On “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” in 2023, when fans inquired about marriage, she said, “It’s up to him.”

McEntire has been married twice before, and while she expressed some doubts about marriage, she emphasized her commitment to Linn, who has never been married. “If he wants it, it’s up to him,” she mentioned. A year later, she reflected on her past and commented that her experiences in marriage had left her with little faith in it.

Their Special Connection

In discussing her relationship, McEntire revealed that they began dating after a dinner in 2020 that sparked something special. During her appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” she shared that a mutual friend had kept them in touch over the years, and it just felt right at that moment.

McEntire also recalled a playful exchange with Linn about why they hadn’t dated sooner, where he joked, “It’s probably because you’d killed me.” She described their connection as magnetic and when they were apart due to COVID-19 restrictions, their communications deepened their relationship in the absence of physical meetings.

Reflecting on their journey, McEntire said, “You know their personality and the inside and out of their mistakes… You love them as they are, rather than size them for their appearance.”

The country music star was previously married to her former manager, Narvel Blackstock, before their divorce in 2015. Her first marriage was to cattle rancher Charlie Battles, lasting from 1976 to 1987.
