Candace Cameron Bure and Lisa Whittle Discuss Biblical Insights on Respecting God Through Our Bodies

Candace Bure Talks Full Body Theology with Lisa Whittle

The actress and vocal Christian, Candace Bure, recently spoke with author Lisa Whittle about the concept of “full body theology.” They discussed how our bodies can carry emotional and mental burdens.

Whittle referenced Romans 12:2, suggesting that transformation happens through the renewal of our minds, which aligns with the themes in her new book.

Bure shared insights on how emotions affect our physical states, especially those rooted in past experiences. “It’s interesting,” she noted, “our bodies often remember trauma, even when our minds feel ready for change.”

Both women acknowledged that stress can be harmful to the body and discussed its effects on health, which has been covered in various reports.

“I really believe we can find freedom in our bodies by understanding who God is and embracing His love for us,” Bure said, emphasizing her passion for this message.

Whittle stated, “Our bodies are intrinsically linked to our souls.” She shared her own background, expressing how growing up as a pastor’s child impacted her, particularly following the challenges faced by her family.

Whittle recounted dealing with feelings of bitterness during difficult transitions, mentioning a physical rash that accompanied her emotional struggles. “It’s curious,” she reflected, “once I stopped focusing on my anger, the rash disappeared.”

Bure pointed out, “That rash might symbolize deeper issues.” Whittle added that unresolved pain from the church community can manifest in chronic health problems, though she emphasized she isn’t a doctor.

Both women urged listeners not to dismiss these feelings. Whittle acknowledged that anxiety can take different forms, and they discussed how biblical meditation could serve as an antidote for milder stressors. They highlighted passages like 1 Peter 5:7 and Psalms 94:19 as good starting points for meditation.
