Hannah Einbinder recently faced a wave of criticism for her controversial remarks regarding U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Palestine during her acceptance speech at the 2025 Emmy Awards.
The “Hacking” star wore a striking one-shoulder Louis Vuitton sequin gown and, upon winning the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, wrapped up her speech with a shout-out to the Philadelphia Eagles along with some bold political statements.
She exclaimed, “Birds, f-k ice, free Palestine,” during the live ceremony.
This particular segment of her speech was censored from the live broadcast, but footage quickly surfaced online, prompting mixed reactions from fans.
One commenter criticized her, saying, “The Jewish actress, who uses her 15 minutes of fame to support Gaza’s hostage terrorists, has no moral compass.” Another added, “Who is the way Hannah ends what’s left of your career?”
Meanwhile, some fans praised her: “A powerful word from Hannah Einbinder, celebrating truth and justice while standing in Palestine,” one supporter said. Another referred to her as “a very brave young woman” for speaking out when most of Hollywood remained silent on such issues.
Post-Emmys, Einbinder spoke to reporters about her decision to address political matters at such a prestigious event. “The reason I thought it was important to talk about Palestine is because it’s such a big deal to my heart,” she explained. She mentioned a friend in Gaza working as a doctor to support pregnant women and children in refugee camps, describing that as a deeply personal issue.
She further elaborated, saying, “For many reasons, I feel it is my duty as a Jew to distinguish Jews from the state of Israel.” Einbinder emphasized that boycotts can be vital in pressuring those in power without targeting individuals.
