Kari Lake Criticizes Those Supporting Charlie's Death

WASHINGTON – Kari Lake, who is currently the acting CEO of the U.S. Global Media Agency, expressed her deep sorrow over the assassination of Charlie Kirk, criticizing those who seem to celebrate it.

“I have not watched any of those videos showing people celebrating Charlie’s assassination. Honestly, I don’t want to see them,” Lake, who ran for governor of Arizona in 2022, shared with Breitbart News while attending an event at the Kennedy Center. “Charlie was a really close friend to me, and it’s heartbreaking for his family, especially Erica and the kids.”

Kirk was tragically shot in the head last Wednesday at a speaking event in Utah. He was pronounced dead shortly after reaching the hospital, just 31 years old, leaving behind his wife, Erica, and their two young children.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson from Utah, had been reported to authorities by his family. Kirk was shot while addressing questions about trans issues, with Robinson also linked to a transgender individual who lived with him.

“I’m absolutely devastated,” Lake admitted, noting that Kirk’s daughter, Ruby Halperin, had been involved in his work. According to her LinkedIn, Halperin has been an executive assistant at Turning Point USA, Kirk’s organization, since 2021.

Lake mentioned that she spent a lot of time on the phone, crying about the situation with her daughter.

“All he wanted to do was engage in debate. That was his mission. We, as a country, should not lead to violence when discussions are held. It’s crucial to speak openly,” she emphasized.

Kirk had garnered a massive social media following through his engaging conversations, where he often set up tables on university campuses to debate a range of political and cultural topics.

Lake condemned all forms of political violence, showing indignation towards those who celebrated Kirk’s death.

“I miss him profoundly and know his legacy will endure,” she stated. “We won’t let this tragedy silence us. We’ll continue what Charlie started. I refuse to back down in the face of those who cheered for his death; they don’t belong here.”

Lake also participated in Kirk’s vigil at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., on Sunday.
