Someone should check Chris Fowler’s vitamin C levels.

During the “Monday Night Football” game featuring the Chargers and Raiders in Las Vegas, ESPN’s Chris Fowler appeared noticeably unwell as he managed to get through his duties.

“Can we give Chris Fowler a break?” tweeted Dan “Big Cat” Cutts from Barstool Sports, moments after the Chargers secured a 20-9 win.

Fowler’s intro also caught some fans off guard, with one comparing his voicing during the game to SpongeBob SquarePants, the animated character from Nickelodeon.

NBC Sports NFL writer Patrick Dorgerty humorously suggested Fowler sounded like he hadn’t slept well since the dawn of time.

While Fowler didn’t directly state that he was feeling under the weather, many noticed a strained, hoarse quality to his voice, which differed from his usual tone when calling the game.

Typically, Joe Buck and Troy Aikman cover ESPN’s “Monday Night Football”; however, due to scheduling, Fowler teamed up with Louis Riddick and Dan Orlovsky to commentate on the Chargers vs. Raiders game while the Buccaneers faced the Texans.

It’s been quite a hectic period for Fowler with the college football season just kicking off and his recent work opening for the U.S.

Fans were quick to comment on how Fowler struggled to articulate after the Raiders’ opening play, and things didn’t seem to get any easier as the night wore on.

Indeed, it was a rough start for both Fowler and quarterback Geno Smith that evening, with Smith throwing 43 passes for just 180 yards and three interceptions, contributing to the Raiders’ 20-9 defeat to the Chargers.
