Queen Camilla Misses Duchess of Kent’s Funeral Due to Sinusitis
Queen Camilla will not be attending the funeral of Catherine, Duchess of Kent. She’s currently recovering from acute sinusitis. Buckingham Palace expressed regret in a statement, noting that the Queen’s thoughts and prayers are with the Duke of Kent and the entire family during this time.
This morning, the Queen left Scotland to honor Katherine, who passed away at 92 earlier this month. Meanwhile, King Charles and other senior royals were present at Westminster Cathedral for the services.
Looking ahead, the Queen is expected to participate in all scheduled elements of her state visit with President Trump on Wednesday as she continues her recovery.
President Trump and First Lady Melania are set to arrive at Windsor Castle on September 17. They will be officially welcomed by the Prince and Princess of Wales, with Prince William and Kate Middleton joining them to meet King Charles and Queen Camilla.
In July, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Trump’s state visit would take place from September 17-19, with King Charles hosting the couple at Windsor Castle.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams mentioned that the Princess of Wales will play an important role in supporting her husband, who is the heir to the British throne. Broadcaster Helena Chard echoed these sentiments, mentioning how integral Kate will be during the state visit.
Fitzwilliams noted that this event represents a significant moment in bringing Catherine into the global spotlight.
In a previous formal invitation, known as “Manuregia,” Charles signed the paper, which was then given to the White House as an invitation for Trump. A palace aide mentioned that the Queen has known President Trump for many years and looks forward to hosting him and the First Lady later this year.
