iPhone users report that the iOS 26 update has negatively affected their battery life

Apple Customers Express Discontent

Recently, Apple enthusiasts have voiced strong opinions about the design of the upcoming iPhone 17, describing it as “Ugly” ahead of its release this week.

Alongside this, the new iOS 26 update is facing criticism for its functionality, with many users reporting that it significantly drains their phone batteries.

Since the update was unveiled in June during the Worldwide Developers Conference, tech aficionados have noticed their battery life plummeting within hours of charging. One user mentioned, “I just fully charged my phone 58 minutes ago, and now I’m at 79%.” They added, “iOS 26 is turning my phone into a brick.”

Another frustrated user exclaimed, “Dude, what’s going on? Ever since the iOS 26 update, my phone has been heating up, and my battery health is tanking. I haven’t changed how I charge it!”

A third user shared their plight, saying, “It’s obvious there’s a battery issue with iOS 26. I used my work phone more than usual this morning, but it’s already down to 50%.”

In response to these concerns, Apple reassured users that this initial battery drain is expected behavior. They pointed to support documentation that explains, “After completing an update, especially a significant one, you might notice a temporary decline in battery life and thermal performance.”

Apple clarified, “The device needs time to perform background tasks, such as indexing data, downloading new assets, and updating apps.”

They added that some features might require extra resources and noted that individual usage may lead to minor performance and battery life impacts.

But the complaints don’t stop there. Users are also expressing dissatisfaction with the new “liquid glass” design, which gives app icons and menus a translucent appearance, causing backgrounds to look blurred.

One user praised the design, stating, “The liquid glass look is great!” However, others found it less appealing, suggesting that “Steve Jobs would never have approved this.”

Another critic remarked, “Apple’s new Glassy UI literally hurts my eyes. Notifications feel overwhelming.” They went on to say, “This OS update may be one of the worst things Apple has done since iOS 7. No joke.”

One Redditor described the new background effects as dizzying, noting it marks the first major interface change from a tech company in over a year, making them feel uncomfortable just watching it.
