Molly Qerim to Depart ESPN’s First Take
ESPN’s popular daytime show, First Take, will soon see a departure of a familiar face. On Tuesday, Molly Qerim, who has been a long-time moderator and co-host, announced her decision to leave both the show and the network later this year.
In her statement, Qerim mentioned, “After a lot of reflection, I decided it was time to close this incredible chapter and leave ‘First Take.’ Hosting this show has been one of the greatest honors of my career.” She shared this news through her Instagram Stories.
Qerim began her journey with ESPN back in 2006. She took over from Cari Champion as the host of First Take in 2015, and about two years later, she officially became the permanent host.
According to reports, Qerim was presented with a new contract offer from the Disney-owned sports network but chose to decline it.
The duration of her current contract remains unclear.
In a tribute, an ESPN spokesperson lauded Qerim for her nearly 20-year tenure with the organization. They noted, “Molly has been an integral part of ESPN since 2006 and has significantly contributed to the success of First Take as a host for the past decade. She elevated the show with her calmness and professionalism, always uplifting her colleagues.”
Throughout her time on First Take, Qerim has been a consistent presence, even as the show underwent significant changes over the years. Notably, Skip Bayless departed in 2016, while Max Kellerman exited in 2021.
Prior to First Take, Qerim also spent time in ESPN’s morning radio slots, hosting various shows until her leave from the network in 2023.
