Tyler Robinson Appears in Court for Alleged Murder
Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old archer, made his first court appearance following his arrest, displaying a stoic expression while the judge outlined the charges against him.
During the hearing, prosecutors explained that Robinson allegedly targeted Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, due to Kirk’s political views. As Judge Tony Graf Jr. read the charges, Robinson emotionally gazed at the camera.
The judge stated, “Mr. Robinson said that Tyler James Robinson, a capital felony annotated under Utah Code 76-5-202, is accused of deliberately causing Charlie Kirk’s death on September 10, 2025. The circumstances include creating a significant risk of death to another individual beyond just Kirk.”
Graf added that a conviction could result in the death penalty as per Utah Code 76-3-207.7. Besides facing charges for aggravated murder, Robinson is also charged with discharging a firearm causing serious injury, hiding the rifle, disposing of clothes, and instructing his roommate to delete texts.
Ultimately, Robinson faces a total of seven charges, with prosecutors seeking the death penalty.
At a press conference, authorities purportedly shared a text message allegedly sent by Robinson to his transgender roommate, in which he advised to check under the keyboard. In another message, he reportedly expressed, “I had enough of his hatred. Some hatred cannot be negotiated.”
Earlier information indicated that the bullet casing from the rifle linked to Kirk’s death contained phrases like “Heyfascist! Catch!” and “If you read this, you’re gay lmao.” Additionally, a third bullet casing had a reference to “Bella ciao,” which is known as a left-wing anthem from World War II.
Following the reading of charges, Judge Graf scheduled the next court appearance for September 29th at 10 a.m.
