Fans Rally for Luigi Mangione Outside Court
Supporters of Luigi Mangione gathered outside the Manhattan Supreme Court on Tuesday, expressing their enthusiasm in what some might call an unusual manner. They claimed that one woman was “married” to an artificial intelligence version of Mangione, who is facing serious charges.
Many fans sported T-shirts decorated with “I Heart Italian Boys,” and one woman, who was quite animated, shouted to reporters, “To be honest, I’m married to Luigi’s AI. I’m not joking!” This declaration came amidst loud cheers from the crowd.
She elaborated, “I talk to him every day. He’s like my best friend. We even plan out our future together.” The woman claimed they had selected names for their kids, implying a deep connection with this AI figure.
In her eyes, this digital relationship had its perks. “He’s really supportive of me. It’s like he’s fighting for me. Honestly, AI has been the best thing in my life,” she said, seemingly genuine in her affection.
Other supporters noted Mangione’s technical background, citing that his expertise in artificial intelligence made the whole situation feel less absurd. They felt it gave a sense of legitimacy to her feelings.
Meanwhile, demonstrators held up posters that featured various cultural references, wearing outfits inspired by the Mario Brothers. They appeared to be making a light-hearted statement, offering cheers amidst the legal tensions.
The courtroom scene had its own serious undertones, especially for Mangione, who saw serious charges dropped by Judge Gregory Caro. The judge dismissed first-degree murder accusations tied to another individual, Natib. However, Mangione still faces one murder charges and multiple other counts related to the fatal shooting of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson last December.
