After following three books and three TV seasons filled with countless magical moments in both beach settings and Paris, it feels hard to let go of the enchanting world that Jenny Han has created in Summer is Getting Better. But, maybe we don’t have to just yet?
Even though the confirmation has come that the latest season is indeed the third and final one, Han mentioned she might still be interested in exploring more within this universe. If the right story inspires her, it seems she’s open to revisiting these beloved characters. She even offered her fans some hope through letters shared during the finale of the series.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the love you’ve shown me throughout Summer is Getting Better,” Han expressed. “Whether you followed Belly from the first book or joined us through the show, I’m so thankful you’ve made it part of your summer story.” She hinted at the idea of perhaps meeting again in Cousins one summer. Until then, she sends all her love.
So, will they meet again at Cousins? What are your thoughts on an epilogue, a spin-off, or even a movie? Could we see a revisit of this beautiful, sun-soaked world from We Always Spend the Summer? It begs the question.
In a recent chat, Han explained, “Showrunning is a 24/7 job, so it has to feel genuinely exciting for me. I feel like I need to be present every day to ensure I’m fully backing it.”
The final episode of Summer is Getting Better, titled “At Last,” has left fans wondering about the future: will they see these characters again? It’s a lingering curiosity, and fans are left hoping for more summer adventures in Cousins.
