The assassin took away the life of a devoted patriot, a leader, and above all, his father and husband, Charlie Kirk. My heart aches for his wife, children, loved ones, and all the millions mourning the loss of a giant in the conservative movement—like myself.
Charlie was an exceptional man who achieved more in just 31 years than many political thinkers and organizers do in a lifetime. His influence reached millions as he championed the values we hold dear in this country. He was a staunch defender of free speech, always making space for diverse opinions. Through his platform, he fostered healthy political discussions and inspired young Americans to engage in politics. He did this all with peace, love, and genuine care for those with whom he debated.
As the Republican chair, I’ve heard from countless young conservatives who credit Charlie and his organization, Turning Point USA, as the reason they entered politics. They, like me, were motivated by a young man who, despite facing hostile crowds and opposition, presented a bold and clear voice for conservative values and policies.
Charlie boldly stood up for the foundational principles of this country—free speech, freedom, justice, and faith. This vile attack wasn’t merely against him, but against the values he cherished, the principles he fought for, and ultimately what led to his death.
As President Trump remarked, Charlie was “a giant of his generation, a champion of freedom, and an inspiration for millions.” His impact on American youth played a significant role in recapturing the White House in 2024, supporting Republican leadership in both the House and Senate, and ensuring a GOP majority in both chambers.
Charlie’s commitment to conservative values for university students and his dedication to candidates will undeniably shape future elections. The movement he sparked will continue to thrive, promoting the ideals set forth by our founders and influential conservative leaders.
His political legacy reached new groups of voters, encouraging Republicans to be a part of something larger than themselves. The effects of his influence will resonate with the upcoming generation. We owe him a great deal of gratitude.
Rest in peace, Charlie.
