Trump and Melania Visit St. George’s Chapel
On September 17, 2025, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump paid a visit to St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. They solemnly laid flowers at the tomb of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Upon their arrival, they were welcomed by the dean of Windsor, Rev. Christopher Cocuworth, along with Chapter Clerk Miss Charlotte Manley. Away from the spotlight, the couple took a moment—about ten minutes—to reflect on Queen Elizabeth’s life and the splendor of the chapel, calling the visit a “great honor.”
Queen Elizabeth II was interred in King George VI’s Memorial Chapel within St. George’s Chapel, resting next to her husband, Prince Philip, her parents, and her sister, Princess Margaret. Her private burial followed a state funeral on September 19, 2022, where her coffin was secured in a royal safe beneath the memorial chapel.
After their private moments, the Trumps were escorted to their seats by red-robed church officials. They were treated to a performance of *Gloria of Excelsis*, the opening movement of Vivaldi’s *Gloria*, led by James Vivienne with chapel organ accompaniment. This piece added a ceremonial touch to the occasion.
Later, the President and First Lady interacted with some of the choir children, sharing smiles and brief conversations.
They also enjoyed a private tour of the historic chapel, which serves as the final resting place for many British monarchs, including King Henry VIII. During the tour, they admired not just the royal tombs but also the chapel’s intricate architecture and historical monuments.
