Jason Kels Comments on Tush Push Criticism

Former Philadelphia Eagles player Jason Kelsey expressed his perspective on the growing scrutiny surrounding the Tush Push play, stating that this attention could actually lead to more detailed officiating. At 37 years old, Kelsey cautioned that referees are “watching” closely and may penalize the play more frequently.

During a recent episode of “New Heights,” he remarked, “Reference is looking for something to call.” This is, perhaps, a nod to how plays are often analyzed post-game or even frame by frame. He emphasized the need for the offense to tread carefully moving forward.

Kelsey, a Pro Bowl star, also addressed ongoing criticism from fans who believe that the Eagles’ offensive linemen are deliberately lining up offside. “As an offensive line,” he said, “it’s crucial to get off the snaps quickly.” He noted that it can be challenging if a player is late, which complicates executing the play effectively.

He further elaborated on the scrutiny, noting that the play is now “under a microscope.” Kelsey believes that not only are officials paying attention, but so are opposing teams, especially after the Eagles’ recent performances. “They’re watching this for what happened this first week too,” he added.

Looking ahead, the Eagles are set to meet the Los Angeles Rams in an upcoming game. Their last encounter resulted in a narrow victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, thanks to Kelsey’s successful Tush Push strategy that helped seal the game. As the Eagles aim to improve to 3-0, Kelsey realizes that the spotlight is brighter than ever.
