Transgender Roommate of Charlie Kirk’s Assailant Has Troubled Background

ST. GEORGE, Utah – The transgender roommate of Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, has a history of personal struggles, including substance abuse and video game addiction. Lance Twiggs, 22, was reportedly expelled from his parents’ home due to ongoing issues related to his gender identity and substance use, according to family members.

After being asked to leave at 18, Twiggs initially stayed with grandparents before moving to an apartment in St. George, Utah. He is currently in the process of transitioning and is related to the alleged perpetrator. Robinson, also 22, is facing serious charges in connection with the shooting death of Kirk at Utah Valley University on September 10. Kirk was left critically injured and later died after the incident.

Robinson has been charged with elevated murder, two counts of obstructing justice, and firing a weapon in a manner that resulted in serious injury.

A relative mentioned that Robinson, who had a romantic involvement with Twiggs, moved into the townhome last year. They commented on Twiggs’ struggles with substance issues and described how his gaming became an addiction tied to these problems.

According to this family member, Twiggs’ departure from his parents’ home relates partially to behavioral issues. “He was kind of respectful, but his habits created big problems,” they said.

Details Surrounding the Shooting Incident

The shooting unfolded during a Turning Point USA event where surveillance footage showed Robinson, dressed in dark clothing, carrying a concealed rifle. He fired a shot that struck Kirk in the neck amidst a public gathering, putting attendees at risk.

In the hours following the shooting, authorities launched an extensive manhunt, eventually recovering the firearm hidden in nearby woods. Robinson had reportedly communicated with Twiggs about the motivations for his actions, expressing a belief that Kirk had instigated too much hatred.

Robinson’s parents later recognized him from news coverage. Encouraged by family, he eventually turned himself in to law enforcement.

As of September 16, the Utah County Lawyer’s Office has formally charged Robinson with multiple serious offenses, including first-degree murder and tampering with witnesses.
