Erika Kirk Responds to Husband’s Assassination
In the wake of her husband Charlie Kirk’s assassination, his widow, Erika Kirk, expressed profound grief and resolve. “They killed Charlie,” she stated shortly after his death.
She voiced her commitment to continue his work, saying, “We will not surrender or kneel before evil. We will continue.” Reflecting on her emotions, she added, “I don’t know what fire that caught in this wife… The screams of this widow echo all over the world like a scream of battle. For everyone who hears across America tonight: the movements my husband has initiated will not fade away.”
This week, Megyn Kelly, a significant figure in the conservative community and a friend of Charlie Kirk, announced that Erika will take a pivotal role in advancing her late husband’s mission, alongside executive producer Andrew Kolvet. “This is exactly what he wanted,” Kolvet remarked.
Kelly, however, expressed some reservations, stating, “I don’t think I’ll be completely focused on meeting his vision without understanding where this group is headed fully.” Despite those doubts, Michael McCoy, Kirk’s chief of staff, firmly declared, “She’s our retaliation.”
Erika Kirk, who is also the mother of their two children, will lead initiatives that span over 3,500 American schools as well as more than 2,000 Turning Point USA (TPUSA) student and faith-based groups. Recently, Kolvet indicated that TPUSA has seen an overwhelming response, with requests for over 37,000 new chapters pouring in.
Additionally, financial disclosures show that TPUSA’s revenue reached $85 million for the fiscal year ending June 2024. The election of Erika Kirk as a leader of the organization has been met with unanimous support from the TPUSA committee.
In a statement, the board said, “All of us at Turning Point USA play a special role in carrying Charlie Kirk’s mantle, bringing us closer to the Lord and completing his vision of fostering a prosperous nation for future generations.” They emphasized that, “As Charlie always said, ‘We have a country to save.’ The effort to undermine Charlie’s work presents an opportunity to make it even stronger and more enduring.”
