Danica Patrick celebrated after ABC decided to pull “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” for an indefinite period. This decision followed controversial remarks made by the late-night host regarding the recent shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
The former NASCAR driver, who has openly expressed support for President Trump, shared a headline about Kimmel, stating, “Human common sense is back. Thank God.” She also referenced a previous tweet from Kirk dating back to 2017.
This reaction came after Patrick spoke about Kirk in an Instagram post, sharing moments from their time together on his podcast.
Kimmel, 57, faced backlash over comments made about the shooting, implying a connection between Tyler Robinson—accused of killing Kirk at a Utah Valley University event on September 10—and Trump’s “Make America Great Again” movement.
“The MAGA gang is trying to portray the individual who killed Charlie Kirk as something he’s not, aiming to gain political leverage from the situation,” Kimmel stated, adding that his commentary was rooted in sadness.
An ABC spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday that “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” will remain off the air indefinitely.
Both Nexstar and Sinclair, which own ABC affiliate stations, have verified this information. Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Kerr mentioned that Kimmel appears to “mislead” the public regarding the circumstances of Kirk’s death.
In a notable reaction, Trump criticized Kimmel, referencing the cancellations of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and “Late Night with Seth Myers.” He remarked, “Jimmy Kimmel was let go for having lower ratings and for making offensive remarks about the highly regarded Charlie Kirk.”
In July, CBS also canceled “Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” citing what they described as a “purely financial decision.”
