Rosie O’Donnell recently expressed her frustration at a bar in Northern Ireland over Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension from his late-night show, as reported by witnesses.
The former co-host of ABC’s left-leaning talk show went on a tirade against her longtime adversary, President Trump, during a 20-minute pause at a local pub called “Manny,” named after the tavern’s owner who has run the place for 158 years.
“Now Trump can decide who gets to be the subject of a late-night joke,” she declared, as she shared her thoughts while drinking at the pub.
O’Donnell had previously made headlines with a series of anti-Trump posts on Instagram, labeling the current political climate in the U.S. as one dominated by a “fascist regime” and a “corrupt corporate elite.”
The pub’s landlord, Barry Gilliland, mentioned that he served O’Donnell during an event dubbed “Friendly Exchange,” where she shared drinks with American tourists, enjoying some Irish beer.
The latest on Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension after Charlie Kirk’s comments
When asked about O’Donnell’s remarks, Gilliland said he didn’t quite recall everything she had said but noted that there wasn’t much of a response from her.
Representatives for O’Donnell did not immediately reply to inquiries regarding her statements.
Earlier this year, O’Donnell moved from Northern Ireland to the outskirts of Dublin, expressing concerns about a rising tide of “fascism” in the U.S. during a March interview, even revealing that her application for Irish citizenship was still pending.
These comments by O’Donnell followed the controversy surrounding Kimmel, who is facing an indefinite suspension for his remarks during a recent episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” that criticized Trump’s allies for exploiting certain events for political gain.
O’Donnell’s longstanding feud with President Trump dates back nearly 20 years, starting with her criticism of him during the 2006 Miss USA pageant.
She accused him of behaving inappropriately with Miss America and others, branding him a “snake oil salesman” for his refusal to fire a contestant involved in scandalous behavior.
In a more recent comment, O’Donnell noted that Trump skipped attending his daughter’s college graduation due to their ongoing disagreement.
As a side note, the 14th Amendment guarantees citizenship for those born in the U.S., and O’Donnell, who was born in Comac, New York, is included in that provision.
