Jets missing two additional starters along with Justin Fields' injury

With quarterback Justin Fields already out, Jets coach Aaron Glenn has announced that two more starters will not play in Sunday’s road game against the Buccaneers.

Glenn had previously dealt with an Achilles injury last season, missing the remainder of the year, and defensive end Jermaine Johnson will also be unavailable after having surgery on the same injury. Johnson, who has yet to make a significant impact this season, did not record any sacks in his first two games, both of which ended in losses.

Additionally, wide receiver Josh Reynolds will miss his second consecutive game due to hamstring problems, Glenn mentioned.

As for the starting lineup, Michael Clemons might take over for Johnson on the left side.

Reflecting on the Jets’ 0-2 start, Glenn stated, “Listen, our guys are fine. They’re motivated. It’s only week two. The sky isn’t falling. Despite what the outside noise says, we’re looking forward to moving on.”

Moreover, defensive tackle Jay Tufele is coping with an illness, while kick returner Kenne Nwangu is listed with a hamstring issue. Defensive safety Tony Adams (hip), cornerback Michael Carter II (shoulder), and linebacker Marcelino McCrary-Ball (hamstring) are also questionable for the game, with Adams being limited during practice.

Glenn also confirmed that undrafted rookie Brady Cook will be promoted to QB2 for the game against the Buccaneers, stepping in behind Tyrod Taylor as Fields remains sidelined with a concussion.
