Discussions underway to revive late-night show with Jimmy Kimmel and Disney

Possible Return of “Jimmy Kimmel Live”

Reports suggest that discussions are underway between Jimmy Kimmel and Disney regarding the potential return of his late-night show.

Kimmel’s team, including his business and legal advisors, is engaged in serious talks with Disney and ABC to reach an agreement that would allow “Jimmy Kimmel Live” to kick off its 23rd season. An insider mentioned this to Vanity Fair.

It’s uncertain if the involved parties are nearing any kind of resolution. This week, Kimmel’s show was left in limbo after he made controversial remarks about the Charlie Kirk incident.

Kimmel has reportedly expressed concerns about the implications of a permanent cancellation for his crew working in Los Angeles.

Both Kimmel’s representatives and Disney have yet to comment on the situation.

In the past, ABC had advised Kimmel to refrain from political commentary, specifically concerning President Trump.

Kimmel mentioned, “I think when they were about to buy Fox, they were worried that Trump would somehow ruin them,” during a conversation with Howie Mandel.

The late-night show is currently on an indefinite hiatus following Kimmel’s contentious remarks regarding the assassination of Kirk. He asserted in his monologue that the perpetrator, Tyler Robinson, was a Trump supporter.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend, and the Magagangs are desperately trying to characterize this kid who is doing everything they can to kill Charlie Kirk as something other than them,” Kimmel said.

The show was officially pulled from the air on Wednesday, and Kimmel has reportedly declined numerous requests for an apology.

FCC Chairman Brendan Kerr noted that networks like ABC, NBC, and CBS have a duty to serve the public interest.

Meanwhile, a protest organized by the writers’ guild has drawn attention to ABC’s decision to suspend Kimmel, with participants actively voicing their dissatisfaction.

Interestingly, President Trump has taken to social media to comment on Kimmel’s situation, offering praise for his moves against other late-night hosts and pointing out the comedian’s “bad reviews.”

Kimmel has hosted the ABC show since 2003.
