Building in Sacramento hit by gunfire; suspect arrested

A 64-year-old man from Sacramento was released after being arrested in connection with a shooting incident at ABC10 news station on a recent Friday afternoon. Anibal Hernandez Santana faces multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon and shooting into an occupied building. He was also charged with negligence concerning firearm use. Records show he was freed after posting bail set at $200,000.

The police arrived at the news station around 1:30 PM following reports of gunfire. It’s believed the shooter filmed himself at a residential nursery nearby earlier that day.

The Sacramento Police Department indicated that the investigation is ongoing, with possible FBI involvement. Hernandez Santana is scheduled for a court appearance on Tuesday, although mugshots were not immediately available.

At the time of the shooting, employees were present but thankfully not harmed. Local coverage highlighted video evidence showing at least three bullet holes in the station’s window. Reports suggested the shots originated from a vehicle that quickly sped away. Authorities were able to identify the suspect’s vehicle, leading to his arrest.

Just a day before this incident, there was a small protest outside the station. Approximately 15 people gathered to express their discontent over the decision to remove Jimmy Kimmel from the air, linked to comments made by the Disney-owned ABC regarding a murdered conservative activist and his alleged assassin. Disney controls the ABC network, while ABC10 is operated by Tegna, which is currently being acquired by Nexstar Media Group for around $6.2 billion.

In light of the shooting, heightened police presence has been reported near ABC7 in San Francisco, as noted by local sources.
