In a recent interview, Erika Kirk, the CEO of Turning Point USA, reflected on her late husband, founder Charlie Kirk, who was tragically killed on September 10. She mentioned, “God’s plan is always greater than us.”
Erika Kirk spoke to reporters just days ahead of a tribute service for her husband at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, where a crowd of hundreds of thousands was expected to gather.
She discussed the strength she finds in the Bible following the death of her husband, who was murdered by 22-year-old Tyler Robinson at Utah Valley University. She noted that sometimes, she sees the “Bible of such technology.”
Look at this – a beautiful tribute! Thousands celebrated Charlie Kirk with applause and worship during his funeral service:
“It feels so peaceful to say, ‘You’ll be done, I’ll surrender to it.’ But do I really like that?” she added, expressing her complex feelings.
Following her husband’s death, Erika Kirk tweeted a verse, Psalm 46:1, stating, “God is our shelter and power, and is a very present help in trouble.”
According to Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray, when Robinson’s partner inquired, “Why?”, Robinson replied, “I had enough of his hatred. I can’t negotiate hatred.” It is reported that Robinson inscribed messages on the ammunition casing, including “Hey fascist! Catch!” Additionally, “O Bella Ciao,” a well-known Italian song associated with radical leftist movements, was mentioned.
Erika Kirk reiterated her belief that her husband’s death was part of “God’s plan.” She stated, “I firmly believe this is God’s plan, and it’s evident. I couldn’t take Charlie’s place,” reflecting her deep conviction amid sorrow.

She also recounted her experience of viewing her husband’s body, despite the sheriff’s office advising against it. She described it as if “Jesus saved him” during his last moments.
“His eyes were half open,” she recalled. “And he seemed aware, with a faint smile, like the Mona Lisa. It was as if he was content. A bullet struck, he blinked, and then he was in heaven.”
On Wednesday, Erika Kirk was unanimously elected as the CEO and board chair of Turning Point USA, and she is expected to address her husband’s tribute service shortly.
