Eagles Secure Win with Late Touchdown
The Philadelphia Eagles capped off a thrilling comeback against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
With just three seconds remaining, Rams kicker Joshua Curty attempted a 44-yard field goal to clinch the game. Instead of triumphing, his kick was blocked, resulting in Eagles defensive lineman Jordan Davis picking up the loose ball and sprinting it back for a touchdown.
Philadelphia emerged victorious with a score of 33-26. Interestingly, the NFL’s Next Gen stats revealed that Davis reached an impressive top speed of 18.59 mph on his return—marking the fastest pace for a player over 330 pounds since 2017. Davis himself tips the scales at 336 pounds.
This marked the second consecutive drive where the Rams failed to convert a field goal after Davis’s initial block saved the Eagles from another potential setback. Earlier, Curty had his 36-yard attempt deflected as well. Following that, Philadelphia took the lead with a 17-play, 91-yard drive capped by a four-yard touchdown pass from Jalen Hurts to Devonta Smith.
Things looked promising for the Rams when they pulled ahead to 26-7 early in the third quarter, thanks to a 10-yard touchdown run by Kyren Williams. However, the Eagles weren’t about to back down.
Hurts rang in with some impressive plays, notably finding Dallas Goedert for a 33-yard touchdown early in the third quarter, then connecting with A.J. Brown for another 9-yard score shortly after.
Overall, Hurts completed 226 passing yards and threw three touchdown passes in this compelling win.
The Eagles seemed a bit disjointed in the first half, largely due to penalties often called for early movement. It felt like the officials might have missed a few instances there.
For the Rams, Matthew Stafford finished the game with 33 completions on 49 attempts for 196 yards, tossing two touchdown passes, both aimed at Davante Adams. Puka Nacua stood out, leading the Rams with 11 receptions for 112 yards.
Conversely, Brown led the Eagles in receiving with six catches for a total of 109 yards, while Smith had eight catches for 60 yards, adding his own touchdown to the mix.
With this win, the Eagles improved their record to 3-0, while the Rams fell to 2-1.
