Najee Harris Suffers Injury During Game Against Broncos
The Los Angeles Chargers faced a tough blow in their match against the Denver Broncos on Sunday when running back Najee Harris sustained a concerning leg injury in the second quarter.
This incident occurred at around 5:16 in the second quarter. Harris was positioned behind quarterback Justin Herbert, who made a handoff. Almost immediately, Harris appeared to grab his left foot and went down. A replay revealed that he seemed to push off with his left foot just before a jolt impacted his leg.
Following the injury, Harris was seen being carried off the field. Initially, the Chargers expressed optimism about his condition, suggesting it might just be an ankle issue. However, as the game progressed, they downgraded the assessment.
Chargers’ head coach Jim Harbaugh spoke to CBS before the start of the third quarter but did not have an update on Harris’s situation at that time.
This injury comes as Harris was beginning his first season with the Chargers after spending four years with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was expected to be a key player alongside Omarion Hampton, and losing him could significantly impact the Chargers’ offensive plans moving forward.
In 2024, Harris rushed for 1,043 yards and scored six touchdowns, marking the fourth consecutive year he surpassed the 1,000-yard mark. Remarkably, he hadn’t missed a game since his rookie season.
Before exiting the game, Harris managed to collect 28 rushing yards over six carries.
