FBI Arrests Suspect in Shooting Incident at ABC10 Station

FBI Director Kash Patel announced on Monday that law enforcement has taken a suspect into custody following an incident involving gunfire directed at an ABC10 television station in Sacramento. The suspect, identified as 64-year-old Anibal Hernandez Santana, faces allegations under Law 47 USC 333. Initially released on a $200,000 bond, Santana allegedly fired three shots into the station’s lobby on Friday.

“The FBI has detained a suspect in connection with a shooting into the Sacramento Station lobby of ABC10, under federal regulations for interference with licensed broadcasts,” Patel stated. “Targeted violence is unacceptable and will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law,” he continued.

Fortunately, the shooting did not result in any injuries, even though the facility was occupied at the time. Santana had been booked into a Sacramento County jail shortly after midnight on Friday, facing charges related to assault with a deadly weapon and negligence involving a firearm, according to reports from KCRA 3.

KCRA also noted that Santana is currently ineligible for bail as she awaits federal court proceedings. This incident followed ABC’s decision to indefinitely suspend Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night program, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Kimmel expressed his concerns during a monologue on September 15, mentioning recent political tensions and addressing comments about a young individual allegedly trying to harm another public figure. He reflected on the emotional weight his words carried, even likening feelings shared about a child’s pet fish to the gravitas of recent events.

Leading up to the taping of Wednesday’s show, Kimmel reportedly reiterated his statements, asserting they were misinterpreted by conservative commentators. Concerns from Disney CEO Bob Iger and Disney Entertainment co-chair Dana Walden regarding the potential inflammatory nature of Kimmel’s remarks ultimately contributed to the decision to halt the show permanently.

Outside ABC’s headquarters, protests emerged in support of Kimmel, with similar sentiments echoed across various parts of the country. Many Democrats and members of the liberal media have labeled Kimmel’s suspension as a direct attack on free speech.
