President Macron’s New York Experience
Emmanuel Macron, the French president, certainly got a taste of New York’s chaos when his vehicle got stuck in UN traffic.
A curious video captured the moment when European leaders were seen asking NYPD officers for assistance to help him get through. This incident occurred shortly after Macron delivered a speech that raised some eyebrows at the UN, according to reports from a French outlet.
“I’m really sorry, President, but everything is blocked right now,” an officer was heard saying to Macron.
In a light-hearted moment, Macron remarked, “How are you? It seems like everything is closed for you, so I’m just hanging out here,” speaking to someone over the phone with a chuckle.
As detailed in the reports, the French delegation ended up taking about 30 minutes to navigate the busy streets of Manhattan.
Despite the potential chaos around him, Macron maintained a relaxed demeanor, even stopping to take selfies with curious onlookers.
At one point, a man asked to snap a photo and leaned in to kiss Macron on the head, prompting a quick reaction from the nearby security team.
Macron reassured his team, saying, “No, no, it’s fine, everyone,” while laughing once more.
The NYPD has yet to provide a comment regarding the situation.
This visit to New York also served as a platform for Macron to officially recognize “Palestine” on behalf of France at the United Nations, joining other nations like Australia and Canada in making similar declarations recently. This gesture, although mainly symbolic, aims to push Israel towards resolving the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
President Trump is expected to address the UN on Tuesday.
