Trump’s Bold Predictions for Europe at the UN
In a heated address to the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, President Trump raised alarm about Europe’s immigration policies and reliance on green energy, warning that it could lead to “complete destruction.”
Trump called on European allies to enhance their border security and pursue fossil fuel exploration, while also advocating for an end to Russian oil purchases, emphasizing the need to cut off funding for Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine.
“I don’t mean to sound boastful, but I think I was right about everything,” he said. “If countries don’t abandon what I call the green energy scam, they’re setting themselves up for failure.”
He expressed deep concern for the state of Europe, stating, “I love Europe and I detest seeing it struggle with these issues.” He lamented how energy challenges and immigration crises have “ravaged” the continent.
During his 57-minute speech, Trump voiced frustration over European policies. “Europe faces serious issues, with an unprecedented influx of illegal immigration,” he remarked, criticizing the inaction on the part of European leaders to address it.
“It’s not sustainable. They prioritized being politically correct over taking necessary action,” he added. “If they continue down this path, it could lead to the demise of Western Europe.”
On a recent visit to the UK, Trump labeled London Mayor Sadiq Kahn “terrifying,” insinuating that London might become subject to Sharia Law.
The President reiterated his belief that the U.S. has reaffirmed its identity under his leadership, encouraging other nations to reclaim their sovereignty. “The beauty of the world lies in the individuality of each nation,” he said.
Returning to energy issues, Trump threatened secondary tariffs against countries buying from Russia, urging European leaders to adopt similar measures, noting their proximity to the situation. “You’re right there; we have an ocean separating us,” he remarked.
He criticized Europe for buying oil and gas from Russia while simultaneously opposing Moscow’s actions, calling it “embarrassing.” A study from the Centre for Energy and Clean Air Research noted that EU nations spent around $23 billion on Russian fossil fuels last year, although purchases have since dropped significantly following the invasion of Ukraine.
After his UN speech, Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, showcasing a noticeable shift in his outlook on the conflict. “I believe Ukraine is poised to reclaim everything it lost, especially with EU support,” Trump stated confidently. He acknowledged Russia’s economic struggles, suggesting this presented an opportunity for Ukraine to act decisively.
