How Lane Kiffin's daughter inspired him to remain at Ole Miss

Lane Kiffin, the head football coach for Ole Miss, pondered a potential job in Auburn back in 2022. However, an emotional appeal from his daughter, Landry, ultimately swayed his decision to stay put.

A documentary titled “Many Life in Lane Kiffin” is set to air on ESPN’s E:60, exploring not just his coaching career but also his life as a father.

That year, Landry transitioned from Los Angeles to Oxford, completing high school and enrolling at Ole Miss.

She expressed her reluctance about leaving, saying, “I didn’t want to move anywhere else, I liked it here.” To convey their feelings, she and her friends created a slideshow set to music, hoping to touch her father’s heart. “I knew he would be sad and rethink his decision,” she added. They presented it to him in his office, and emotions ran high. “We were all crying, and he decided to stay with us,” she recalled.

Kiffin acknowledged that he felt like he needed Ole Miss more than they needed him at that point. “I wasn’t aware of God’s plan; I didn’t foresee getting a second chance to be a present parent,” he mentioned. He also noted that sometimes children offer valuable insights that can lead to significant realizations.

Landry shared that their bond grew stronger after moving to Mississippi. Kiffin took on the head coach role at Ole Miss in December 2014 and previously served as Alabama’s offensive coordinator.

The documentary “Many Life in Lane Kiffin” is set to premiere on ESPN on Wednesday, September 24th at 7 pm.

Recently, Landry made headlines by confirming her relationship with LSU junior linebacker Whit Weeks on Instagram, sharing a picture that stirred excitement online.

Excitement is building for the upcoming match between No. 4 LSU and No. 13 Ole Miss, both undefeated in the SEC.

Kiffin appeared to relish the banter surrounding this news, playfully commenting on the social media interactions. He noted, “I love my daughter, Landry. I’ll let everyone know she’s dating LSU’s Whit Weeks just days before they face Ole Miss. It’s a clever mind game,” he remarked, with a nod to the strategic side of college football.

Weeks, considered one of the top linebackers in the nation, impressed many with his performance, coming in second in the league with 125 tackles during his sophomore season.
