JD Vance’s Speech in North Carolina Highlights Public Safety

Vice President JD Vance’s address in North Carolina on Wednesday primarily focused on public safety and backing law enforcement. However, it was a light moment with a young supporter that stole the show.

During a question-and-answer segment, a boy named Henry, sitting near the press section, was prompted to speak. “I skipped school today,” he said, “and I was wondering if I could take a photo with you.”

Vance, with a smile on his face, invited Henry to the stage, prompting loud cheers from the audience.

He joked back to the crowd, recalling what Henry said about skipping school. “Well, I think there are some reasons to skip,” he noted playfully, adding that he’d also like a photo with Henry.

Henry, decked out in a red playing card hat and an American flag shirt, walked up to Vance, who leaned in for the selfie as the crowd cheered. After the brief moment, Vance tapped Henry on the back and returned to the microphone.

With a good-natured quip, he suggested the next request could be a reporter wanting a photo. The moment provided a nice break before he returned to discussing policy and law enforcement issues.

Protests against Vance also took place outside the venue, highlighting tensions surrounding his visit.

In the remainder of his speech, Vance emphasized the need to hold violent criminals accountable and showed support for local police, reiterating the importance of law and order.

As the interaction wrapped up, Vance took a moment to wish Henry the best with his photos, leaving the audience smiling.

The White House’s official Rapid Response account shared this particular moment of the speech, but as of now, neither the White House nor Vance’s office has commented further on the event.
