Tyler Robinson Arrested in Connection to Charlie Kirk’s Murder

OREM, Utah – Tyler Robinson has been accused of the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the 22-year-old founder of Turning Point USA. Investigators reportedly linked Robinson to a nearby police officer who discovered the murder weapon wrapped in a towel near the edge of the campus. This incident occurred around 6:30 PM on September 10, just hours after Kirk was shot in the neck by a sniper bullet.

Authorities had placed the campus under lockdown, leading to a presence of officers at the site. This lockdown seemingly obstructed Robinson’s attempts, as prosecutors allege, to kill Kirk using a Moser .30-06 rifle.

Following Kirk’s assassination, there remain numerous unanswered questions. Investigators are piecing together the details of the case to clarify the situation surrounding the tragic event.

In a twist to the narrative, prosecutors unveiled excerpts from a text exchange between Robinson and his roommate, Lance Twiggs. This exchange took place on the night of the shooting. In the messages, Robinson instructed Twiggs to “look under my keyboard,” where he found a note that read, “I’ve got the opportunity to take Charlie Kirk out and I’m going to take it.” It’s reported that Twiggs later collaborated with law enforcement.

As the situation unfolds, Utah prosecutors are preparing a potential death penalty case against Robinson.

In subsequent messages, Robinson expressed concern about being delayed in Orem and indicated he wanted to keep his rifle hidden indefinitely. One message even suggested he felt anxious about letting his grandfather down if he didn’t retrieve the rifle soon.

As Robinson awaits formal charges, residents in Utah have described him as “very quiet.” There were moments in his texts where he commented about how law enforcement was handling searches in the area, showing a certain detachment from the gravity of the situation.

In the aftermath of the event, Robinson turned himself in to authorities in his hometown, approximately 33 hours after the murder, facing charges that include aggravated murder.
