Tim Allen Reflects on Erica Kirk’s Impactful Forgiveness Speech
Tim Allen recently shared his thoughts on X regarding the profound influence Erica Kirk’s memorial speech had on him. He expressed deep emotion over her act of forgiveness directed at the man accused of killing her husband, Charlie Kirk.
“When Erica Kirk spoke to the man who took her husband’s life, saying, ‘I forgive him,’ that moment really struck me,” Allen said. He also revealed his personal struggles with forgiveness, admitting, “I have battled for over 60 years to forgive the man who killed my father. I can finally say those words: ‘I forgive the man who killed my father.’ There is peace in that.”
Allen lost his father in 1978 due to a drunk driving incident when he was just 11 years old. His reflections following Erica’s speech resonated deeply, especially considering his own history with loss and forgiveness.
“I forgive the man who killed my father,” he shared, adding to his message of healing and peace.
At a separate service for Charlie on Sunday, Erica Kirk publicly forgave 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, the individual charged with Charlie’s murder. She noted that Charlie always sought to help others, saying, “He wanted to save the young man, just like the one who took his life.”
In her moving speech, she quoted, “Our Savior said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.’ So, I forgive him.” This echoed a sentiment of compassion and hope she believes Charlie would have shared.
Charlie Kirk was tragically shot during a Turning Point USA event in Utah on September 10th. Tyler Robinson has been arrested and faces several serious charges, including aggravated murder and obstruction of justice.
