Tim Allen finds forgiveness for his father's killer after being inspired by Charlie Kirk's widow

Tim Allen has expressed a newfound willingness to forgive the drunk driver who killed his father in 1964, following an emotional eulogy by Erika Kirk for her husband, Charlie Kirk.

“I’ve spent over 60 years grappling with forgiveness for the man who killed my dad. But now, I think I’m ready to forgive him,” he added.

Allen’s father, Gerald M. Dick, tragically died in a car crash due to a drunk driver when Tim was just 11 years old.

Charlie Kirk, a political activist, was shot fatally while addressing an audience at Utah Valley University earlier this month. He was 31, leaving behind a wife and two young children, a three-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son.

During a large memorial event in Arizona, Erika publicly forgave the shooter, addressing a crowd of 200,000 attendees, including notable figures like President Trump and Elon Musk.

“I’ll forgive him,” she said, her voice breaking with emotion. She explained further, saying that Charlie believed in saving lives, even those of people who harm others, citing that “it’s the way of Christ and what Charlie embodied.”

Erika also stated in an interview that she did not pursue the death penalty for Tyler Robinson, the individual accused of Charlie’s murder.

“I don’t want to carry that burden,” she reflected. “When I meet Jesus in heaven, I want to be at peace with my choices.”

In the aftermath of her husband’s passing, Erika was appointed CEO and chairman of the board of Turning Point USA, the organization Charlie helped establish to promote conservative values on campuses. She pledged to honor his legacy and continue his mission.
