Lisa Catalano has a unique view on love, particularly when it comes to standing out.

At 42, this Bay Area resident is spending a significant amount of money to rent digital billboards along California’s iconic Highway 101.

As a vintage clothing retailer in San Mateo, she chuckled when discussing the costs, saying, “People would be surprised if they knew how much I’ve spent.”

Catalano kicked off her advertising effort on September 2, though she’s keeping the total expenditure a secret.

She’s serious about finding a husband.

“This isn’t a joke or a gimmick. It’s a self-funded venture,” she stated firmly. “I just want to find the right partner.”

Her campaign stretches 45 miles from Santa Clara to San Francisco, directing potential matches to her dating site, where singles can apply to date her.

The costs for the billboard vary based on demand, meaning she pays different prices depending on when and where her ads are placed.

Additionally, she’s promoting herself through ads atop local taxis, trying to reach drivers as well.

It’s a bold move to navigate the modern dating scene, and while some have called her “crazy,” she’s unapologetic about her approach.

Following a series of disappointing dating experiences this past spring, she remains determined.

Interestingly, she’s not the only one taking unconventional routes in her love search.

For instance, a corporate lawyer from Los Angeles once mentioned he’d be willing to pay a $5,000 referral fee to anyone who could help him find “the one.”

Meanwhile, a man from New Jersey, Mohamed Ibrahim, has also secured billboard space in Times Square, hoping to attract his ideal partner.

Catalano’s website provides details about her preferences, emphasizing what she won’t compromise on. She’s looking for men aged 35 to 45 who lead health-conscious lifestyles and align with her values.

Her site outlines her “must-haves,” including a commitment to monogamy and a clean background.

Despite the expenses, Catalano is focused more on her goals than the financial aspect. She simply longs for a lasting relationship.

“I want to fall in love, get married, and start a family,” she expressed. “He just needs to be out there.”
