Vice President Vance Responds to Online Criticism
In a recent social media exchange, Vice President JD Vance addressed criticisms from left-wing users attempting to recast a viral video involving Bud Light as an example of “violent rhetoric” from conservatives.
The discussion around rhetoric, especially regarding its potential to incite political violence, has heated up following the assassination of Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist. Many on the left have been quick to attribute blame to the right.
One particular troll caught Vance’s attention by referencing a video involving celebrities like Kid Rock, which was linked to Bud Light’s controversial marketing partnership with a transgender influencer.
“This is how MAGA responded after Bud Light dared to feature trans-influencers in their ads,” claimed a user who identified as a liberal veteran. Vance wasted no time in responding.
“I urge all my supporters to refrain from violence against innocent beer cans,” he stated, and added that he called on “all left-wing extremists” to cease their encouragement of violence against people.
Others jumped into the fray to bolster Vance’s point.
“He shot the can. It’s not a person. That’s the difference,” noted activist Matt Van Swal, while another critic remarked on Vance’s supposed confusion between inanimate objects and people.
Vance emphasized the distinction, pointing out that the right uses beer cans for target practice, whereas, in his view, the left resorts to threatening individuals they disagree with.
Some users characterized Vance’s comments as absurd, equating target practice with violent acts against humans. One user mockingly commented, “You can pry these empty beer cans out of my cold, dead hands,” indicating the absurdity they perceived in the situation.
Amid the back-and-forth, a user expressed dismay at seeing someone crush a beer can with their legs, claiming it has gone too far and needed to stop.
A request for comment to Kid Rock went unanswered.
