NFL’s First Dublin Game Hits a Sour Note
The NFL’s inaugural visit to Dublin didn’t go as planned.
Skyler Thompson, quarterback for the Steelers, fell victim to a robbery in the Irish capital just before Pittsburgh’s game against the Vikings at Croke Park on Friday night. This was reported by NFL Network.
Although Thompson sustained some minor injuries, he seems to be doing okay and remains with his team.
At 28 years old, he was already on injured reserve due to a hamstring issue he picked up on September 10.
“We are aware of the situation involving Skyler Thompson in Dublin on Friday night,” a spokesperson for the Steelers stated. “Currently, we are collaborating with NFL Security to collect more details about the incident, so we can’t provide further comments at this time.”
Thompson, a Kansas native, has played 10 games over three NFL seasons, all with the Dolphins. He even started a playoff game in 2022, throwing for 220 yards along with a touchdown and two interceptions in a loss to Buffalo.
The Steelers and Vikings are set to face off on Sunday morning, marking the NFL’s first game in Dublin as part of an expanding international schedule.
Both the Steelers and the Vikings currently hold a 2-1 record heading into the game.
