Jazz Chisholm Jr. Update for Yankees Playoffs

Jazz Chisholm Jr. missed Game 162 as part of the Yankees’ starting lineup, but he seems ready to join the playoff action on Tuesday.

After being hit on the left forearm by a 97 mph sinker in Saturday’s game against the Orioles, Chisholm sat out at the start on Sunday due to lingering swelling and pain. However, he ended up participating in the final two innings.

“I should be fine,” he commented ahead of the Yankees’ close 3-2 win at Yankee Stadium.

Chisholm underwent an X-ray and CT scan on Saturday, both of which were clear.

Manager Aaron Boone expressed optimism, noting, “I think he’s doing pretty well. It hurts a bit, but nothing serious—I’m not worried about it.”

Meanwhile, Jose Caballero, who has had an impressive season with 31 home runs and 31 stolen bases, is expected to return to the lineup against the Red Sox on Tuesday.

In other news, Ben Rice wrapped up the season with a bang, hitting two home runs to finish with 26. Over his last 44 games, he boasted a .304 batting average and .943 OPS. Just last Sunday, he hit a grand slam in Baltimore, capping off an exciting series.

Rice’s improvement has been notable. “After hitting that Grand Slam in Baltimore, he made some adjustments and has been really solid since,” a commentator noted.

As for Caballero, he recorded his 49th stolen base during a five-inning stint but was subsequently caught stealing by pitcher Keegan Akin.
