Cadillac Formula 1 Team Names Key Personnel
The new Cadillac Formula 1 team has made significant staffing announcements recently. To kick things off, the team revealed that Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas will be among the drivers when they debut in the Formula 1 grid next season. Additionally, IndyCar star Colton Herta, who has been a topic of speculation regarding Formula 1 seats, will serve as the test and reserve driver.
On Monday, Cadillac shared further news related to its commercial strategy, signaling their ambitions. Tyler EPP has been appointed as the global head of commercial strategy. He previously spent four seasons as president of the Miami Grand Prix, bringing a wealth of experience.
Both Dan Towriss, CEO of Cadillac Formula One Team, and team principal Graeme Lowdon expressed their enthusiasm about EPP’s appointment. “We couldn’t have found a better leader and visionary to develop our commercial division,” Towriss stated in a team release. “His success in elevating the Miami Grand Prix to one of the standout events on the Formula 1 calendar demonstrates his unique vision for sports both domestically and internationally.”
Lowdon added, “Successfully building a team from the ground up requires exceptional leadership and talented individuals who can execute our ambitious vision for the Cadillac Formula 1 team. Tyler has consistently demonstrated a knack for growing organizations that set new benchmarks in F1. We believe his operational skills will be a valuable asset for our team.”
EPP boasts over 20 years of experience across various sports, including Major League Baseball and the National Football League. “I’ve dedicated much of my career to racing, and this experience has allowed me to reshape the understanding of American motorsport in recent years,” EPP remarked. “There’s no better time to invigorate our sports landscape in the U.S. and beyond. The Cadillac Formula 1 team is set to become a formidable player on the global stage, grounded in American heritage and innovation.”
A year ago, I had a conversation with EPP focused solely on his role with the Miami Grand Prix, touching on his insights from years within American motorsport. “We need to ensure ongoing communication and collaboration with the industry—first and foremost with Formula One, teams, drivers, and all entities involved in bringing together each Grand Prix,” EPP mentioned last September.
“You can only achieve this through actual experience,” he continued. “This isn’t something you can just find in a manual. Building and nurturing those relationships is vital, and that’s the priority.”
Now, EPP will leverage those relationships as part of the new team making its mark in Formula 1.
