Paul Feinbaum Reveals Canceled Trump Interview
College football analyst and potential Alabama Senate candidate, Paul Feinbaum, recently shared that ESPN canceled a planned interview with President Trump back in 2019.
During a conversation with Clay Travis on Outkick, Feinbaum explained that the interview was meant to occur during the week of the major LSU-Alabama football games. He mentioned that a producer suggested he should do something significant given the game’s prominence. After that, he reached out to a contact in Washington, D.C., arranging an interview with the president for Thursday morning at the White House, but it got scrapped before it could happen.
“I called my boss and they killed it,” Feinbaum expressed to Travis, noting his disappointment. “They told me we weren’t allowed to mix politics with football.”
Feinbaum insisted the interview was not politically motivated.
“It was about going to the White House to talk to the U.S. president,” he said, emphasizing that it was tied to a key moment in college football. “I’m not exactly sure who made the call to scrap it, but it just didn’t happen.”
He also pointed out the inconsistency, recalling how ESPN permitted Andy Katz to interview President Obama.
“It’s pretty clear that Andy Katz has gone to the White House for the bracket every year,” Feinbaum noted, considering the cancellation a significant moment for him. “It wasn’t political; it was about the idea of interviewing the president during the biggest college football event of the year.”
Finebaum, a registered Republican, is reportedly contemplating a run for the Alabama Senate seat.
