Support for Military Reform Speech

Former Marine Joey Jones commended Pete Hegseth’s address to a crowd of generals and admirals on Tuesday. He emphasized that those against Hegseth’s proposed reforms should consider stepping down.

During his speech to senior military leaders, Hegseth outlined several directives, including plans to double the frequency of physical fitness tests for all service members and introduce new fitness standards. Jones, who lost a leg during the War on Terror, noted that Hegseth’s message left no room for misinterpretation.

“Who can claim they didn’t hear it clearly?” Jones said on “American Newsroom.” “I know everyone in that room understood him when he visited me a month ago. This is direct, and it’s in their faces. There are fewer chances now for people to brush it off, unlike playing phone games with a message that gets relayed multiple times. This isn’t just talk; it’s policy and culture.”

Jones added, “The important thing is that people continue to thrive. It matters that individuals like me aren’t losing limbs because someone hesitated to act decisively against enemies using JDAM on my behalf. That’s the kind of value we need.”

Hegseth had also announced reviews of military grooming standards, as well as the cessation of sex-change procedures for service members and the removal of books promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from military academies.

Jones remarked, “I hope anyone who finds Hegseth’s comments offensive considers resigning. They should retire gracefully and maybe find an alternative career. If they have valuable insights to share, that’s one thing. But if you’re not on board with this culture, perhaps you no longer deserve to wear the uniform. I lost my leg in 2010, yet I can still meet the height and weight standards.”

In related news, President Donald Trump renamed the Department of Defense on September 5th.
