A teacher from Indiana is under fire for allegedly involving teenagers in disturbing activities, including making a 13-year-old wear a “scream” mask.
Brittany Fortinberry, who is 32, now faces an additional six charges, including sexual misconduct with minors, distributing harmful substances to minors, and contributing to their delinquency. These details came out through court documents obtained by WTHR.
The allegations from the 13-year-old arose after Fortinberry had already been arrested in early September for similar claims made by other individuals.
The boy asserts that she would invite him over, allowing them to use drugs together, and would shower him with compliments while he did chores around her home.
As time passed, she reportedly started to touch him more inappropriately, eventually leading to sexual encounters in her garage, although the boy’s exact age at those moments remains unclear.
On one occasion, the boy claims he stayed in Fortinberry’s child’s room, while she reportedly slept with her husband in another part of the house.
He admitted that she had given him drugs and gifts but distanced himself from her when he discovered that she was engaging in sexual acts with other minors as well.
There are allegations that several teenagers in the area have been supplying drugs to minors and preying on them.
“She just handed it over to someone,” the boy told investigators, as cited in court documents obtained by FOX 59.
The allegations have piled up, and Fortinberry now faces a staggering total of 47 charges, which include 15 counts of child abuse and 14 counts of sexual misconduct.
Fortinberry’s troubles began escalating in August 2024 after the boy’s grandmother notified the authorities that Fortinberry had abused him when he was only 15.
The grandmother also mentioned that Fortinberry allegedly sent a nude photo of the boy and threatened him with graphic messages, indicating she might harm herself if he revealed the abuse to anyone.
According to the boy, he felt the situation was akin to the dynamics of a grown man and a teenage girl, labeling it as child abuse and asserting that he was in danger of further exploitation.
Additionally, more victims from Eminence High School—approximately 30 miles southwest of Indianapolis—are coming forth with alarming allegations about Fortinberry’s behavior.
Perhaps the most bizarre aspect is that she purportedly forced her victims to wear the “ghost face” mask from the “Scream” movies during group activities.
With multiple level 1 felony charges for child abuse, Fortinberry potentially faces up to 40 years in prison.
