Prince William's cutting comment to Gary Oldman during his knighthood presentation disclosed

Gary Oldman Honored by Prince William at Windsor Castle

Hollywood actor Sir Gary Oldman made headlines during a recent ceremony at Windsor Castle, where Prince William presented him with the Order of Service to Prince of Wales Drama.

Oldman, who is 67 and an Oscar winner, shared a light-hearted moment with the future king during the event. He recalled that William referred to him as a “fan” for his role in the popular Apple TV+ series “Slow Horses.”

Yet, in a humorous twist, William admitted that whenever he saw Oldman playing his character, he felt the urge to say, “I just want to give you a good wash.”

I mean, it’s both funny and kind of relatable, right? Oldman, known for his sharp wit, responded with a smile that he’s recognized for his quick humor.

In “Slow Horses,” Oldman portrays Jackson Lamb, the head of a team tasked with expelling MI5 agents who have made serious missteps. It’s a mixed bag of characters, but not quite bad enough to be completely sidelined.

After receiving the honor from William, Oldman described the moment as “very emotional.” He noted, “We spoke a little, but I couldn’t find my voice. I think I’m extremely honored, very humbled, and flattered. It’s just incredible.”

He further reflected, “I thought winning an Oscar was a big deal, but this feels like so much more. It’s an entirely singular event.” It’s interesting how some experiences just overshadow others, isn’t it?

During their conversation, William also touched on Oldman’s various roles in films like “The Fifth Element” and “Darkest Hour,” expressing his pleasure at being able to present this honor to Oldman that day.

Oldman’s career began with the Royal Shakespeare Company and, over the years, he has made a significant impact in Hollywood with notable films like “Dracula,” the “Harry Potter” series, and the “Dark Knight” trilogy.

As one of the greatest actors of our time, Oldman has picked up numerous accolades, including an Academy Award, several Golden Globes, and BAFTAs. It’s hard to argue with his talent.

While at the castle, he mentioned that fans have asked him if he would return for another season of “Slow Horses.” Reflecting on his character, he humorously said, “Who doesn’t want to play a role that has such acid wit and sarcasm? He drinks too much, smokes too much… It’s a tough gig to turn down.”
