Senator Bill Cassidy: Democrats Halt Government Due to Transgender Surgeries During Rise in Violence

Concerns about Transgender-Related Violence

Transgender-related violence is a reality we cannot ignore. Recent incidents, such as the tragic killing of Charlie Kirk, underscore the perils associated with radical transgender ideology. When children are taught to dismiss biological realities, it can lead to societal turmoil, including violence and destruction. The first step in addressing this threat is to protect our children.

As a doctor and a parent, I’ve witnessed how this risk manifests early on. For years now, certain radical trans activists, along with major hospital systems, have supported the use of puberty blockers, chemical castration, and permanent surgeries for minors under the guise of “gender-affirming care.” Personally, I view these practices as abusive. They can irrevocably alter a child’s body and mind, often leading to confusion, despair, and in some cases, even destructive behavior.

The former Trump administration and I have begun taking measures to counter these practices. The Department of Justice has issued subpoenas to medical professionals and clinics that perform gender transition procedures on minors. They’ve also cut federal funding for such actions and instructed hospitals to cease these practices.

The same radical ideology that encourages irreversible medical procedures for children also fosters an environment of intimidation and aggression, posing threats to families and communities.

Recently, the president signed a directive that designates ANTIFA as a domestic terrorist organization, a move I’ve long supported. This decision marks a significant step in our efforts to address radicalism.

As the chair of the Senate’s Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, I am committed to collaborating with President Trump to implement protective measures. Already, a major hospital system in the U.S. has halted procedures for minors, marking a considerable victory for children and their families.

However, the threat persists. Organizations like the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) continue to endorse unscientific “standards of care” that prioritize ideology over the safety of children. I have initiated an investigation into WPATH and various medical institutions to uncover hidden practices and hold them accountable. Recently, I sent a letter to the American Medical Association seeking clarification on its role in endorsing these dangerous procedures.

Ensuring accountability is just part of the solution. It’s essential to put in place clear legal protections. That’s why I proposed legislation that would prevent taxpayer dollars from funding these harmful procedures through Medicaid, Medicare, or tax credits. Parents shouldn’t have to shoulder the financial burden for irreversible procedures that impact their children.

The consequences of inaction are stark. Evidence from various tragic incidents across the country indicates that children pressured to renounce biological facts often experience severe mental health issues, alienation, and, in extreme cases, violence. Preventing children from undergoing radical “trans” interventions is crucial for both their future and the welfare of society.

Protecting children is a universally acknowledged necessity. Parents understand it. Medical professionals who adhere to credible science recognize it. With Trump in office, the U.S. stands firm against the indoctrination and harm inflicted on minors.

Regrettably, the Democrats seem to prioritize ideology over safety. By holding the government hostage during Schumer’s shutdown, they are advocating for your tax dollars to fund transgender surgery for minors, jeopardizing both our children’s well-being and the stability of our nation.

Children deserve a childhood free from radical ideologies and harmful interventions. They need a future built on truth, safety, and hope. With courage, confidence, and common sense, we can protect them and avert the next tragedy before it unfolds.
