Thomas Markle Responds to Samantha’s Claims During Philippine Earthquake

Thomas Markle Sr., Meghan Markle’s father, expressed that he is doing “great” following a recent earthquake in the Philippines, countering claims made by his daughter Samantha that he was “confined” on the 19th floor of a building during the disaster.

In a conversation with TMZ, Thomas confirmed his safety, stating, “I’m currently sitting on the sofa in my hotel room and kicking my legs and watching a Charlie Chan movie. It’s so comfortable,” ensuring that he was not trapped as Samantha suggested.

Concerns heightened when Samantha posted on social media, asserting that their father was unable to walk and stranded due to the earthquake. She wrote, “My father was stuck on the 19th floor of a building in the Philippines after a major earthquake, and he couldn’t walk, and he’s trapped.” However, he later reassured that he has a plan to leave the building and is safe for now, hoping for no significant aftershocks.

At 81 years old, the retired TV lighting director moved permanently to the Philippines earlier this year with his son, Thomas Markle Jr.

Interestingly, Thomas Sr. mentioned that he has not been in contact with Samantha and expressed confusion over why she would make such claims.

Following her initial tweet, Samantha returned to the platform, oddly accusing Meghan, her half-sister, of placing their father “in this position” alongside her husband, Prince Harry, and their children.

She lashed out, describing Meghan as a “disgusting, evil” person who should feel embarrassed about the situation, indicating that it reflects poorly on her and Harry. Samantha subsequently made her social media account private to limit visibility of her posts.

In the aftermath of the earthquake, rescuers worked tirelessly with backhoes and sniffer dogs to find survivors, as the disaster claimed at least 72 lives and left over 290 injured. However, the number of missing individuals remains uncertain.
