TCU rejects allegations of canceling Chloe Cole event due to political pressure

TCU Cancels Event Featuring Chloe Cole

Texas Christian University (TCU) announced on Wednesday that a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) event, which was set to feature Chloe Cole, has been cancelled. This decision drew immediate attention and criticism, especially from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Rep. Chip Roy.

TCU explained to Fox News Digital that a TPUSA event honoring Charlie Kirk had successfully taken place on September 18. However, the October 7 event featuring Cole was organized by an external party not directly associated with TCU.

The TCU statement elaborated that the TPUSA student branch had requested a venue for 700 to 1,000 attendees. Unfortunately, the requested space was already occupied due to another student event. The university communicated on September 25 that a suitable space was unavailable and offered to assist in finding another date or venue.

“We have not cancelled this event as TCU is currently not booked,” the statement clarified.

In response, Paxton stated that the situation seems contrary to the principles of free speech. He has expressed intentions to investigate further.

Cole, who has publicly spoken about her personal experiences with gender transition, criticized TCU for allowing events like pride celebrations while rejecting her planned speaking engagement. She has also lauded Hillsdale University for its openness to her speaking.

In her outreach on social media, Cole pointed out the alleged availability of spaces on campus for the event. TCU officials have communicated with Paxton’s office after noting his online comments regarding the cancellation.

As the situation develops, Fox News Digital has reached out for additional insights from Cole and TPUSA.
