It’s about time for accountability.
Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs may face over ten years in prison as a decision is set to be announced on Friday.
Combs, 55, will discover his fate during a 10 a.m. hearing in Manhattan, in the same federal courtroom where other individuals have been found guilty of serious offenses in a notorious sex crimes trial.
Federal prosecutors are pushing Judge Arun Subramanian to impose a sentence exceeding 11 years, while Combs’ defense team argues for a much lighter sentence of just 14 months.
The final decision might be significantly less than what Combs could have faced if convicted on the more severe charges related to sex trafficking and assault.
However, following a high-profile trial that wrapped up in late July, he was found guilty only of lesser charges.
The trial, which lasted two months, unveiled dark secrets from Bad Boy Records, detailing troubling incidents, including what was described as “freak-off” parties.
One of his former partners, R&B singer Kathy Ventura, discussed her difficult experiences during her pregnancy, bravely sharing her stories of Combs’ alarming behavior, including threats and abuse.
Numerous witnesses called by the prosecution aimed to strengthen the case against Combs, portraying him as a central figure in a long history of criminal activity, including vandalizing Kid Cudi’s car and breaking into his home in a fit of rage.
Combs, for his part, stated that the “freak-off” encounter was mutually agreed upon.
Since his arrest in September 2024, he has been held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.
Prosecutors argued that the severity of Combs’ actions warrants a long sentence, even if they did not secure convictions on the most serious charges.
“The crimes he was convicted of are significant, and past cases have resulted in sentences exceeding a decade for those who engaged in similar violent behavior and instilled fear in others,” they noted in court documents.
