Recently released court documents indicate that Hulk Hogan’s family is exploring a potential medical malpractice lawsuit involving a doctor who treated the legendary WWE figure prior to his untimely passing.
Hogan’s wife, Sky Daly, along with their son Nick Borea, submitted a petition on Tuesday in Pinellas County, Florida, seeking an extension of 90 days to investigate possible malpractice linked to the 71-year-old wrestling icon.
The investigation focuses on the medical staff at Morton Plant Hospital, which is where Hogan was declared dead on July 24 at Tampa General Hospital.
Although his death at home in Clearwater was ruled a “natural” heart attack, police mentioned in late August that it remains under investigation.
The wrestling legend had an irregular heartbeat and a history of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a condition that affects white blood cells.
For the first time in August, Hogan’s wife mentioned that they were contemplating legal action based on a failed neck surgery he underwent in May.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, it was noted that Hogan’s phrenic nerve, crucial for breathing control, was reportedly compromised during this procedure.
“We are looking into medical malpractice,” Skye shared with the Daily Mail at that time. “If you’ve been short of breath for an extended period, it can really affect your health. It’s not a typical cause of sudden death—it’s about how it wears you down.”
The Clearwater Police confirmed in August that the case’s complexity necessitated interviewing several witnesses and obtaining medical records from various providers.
As of now, no one has been formally accused of wrongdoing in connection with Hogan’s death.
