Chelsea Clinton Launches New Podcast on Health Misinformation

Chelsea Clinton has debuted a podcast focused on addressing health misinformation, which she announced on Wednesday through a post on X. She shared a link to the podcast titled “That’s not true,” along with a brief introduction. “Many of us glance at the latest news and think, ‘Is that really true?’ Starting tomorrow, I invite you to join me and a variety of experts on this journey,” she said.

The podcast officially launched on a significant platform on Thursday, with two full episodes becoming available on Spotify. One of these episodes features Dr. Jessica Cunurick discussing topics such as seed oils, raw milk, and misconceptions surrounding midwifery, which Clinton refers to as part of the “American Broken Birth System.”

Additionally, two short bonus episodes were released, including a six-minute segment providing tips on how to spot pseudoscience, and a 15-minute interview focused on mitigating “pregnancy-related complications” in the US.

The description for the podcast hints at a critical perspective on current public health dialogues: “Things are getting strange in public health. Childhood vaccines are suddenly controversial, fluoride is labeled as industrial waste, and everyone’s talking about raw milk!”

Clinton mentioned she would be guiding listeners through this chaotic environment alongside various public health experts, such as doctors and nutritionists. It’s interesting because, even though Clinton holds a PhD from Oxford in International Relations and a Master’s in Public Health from Columbia, she isn’t a medical doctor.

This podcast comes at a time of significant tension surrounding US public health policies and leadership. It’s being interpreted as a response to the “Make America Healthy Again” (Maha) initiative. Supporters of Maha and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. have recently faced criticism from Democrats for his skepticism toward vaccines and proposed changes to the CDC.

Interestingly, some voices within the Maha movement have reacted to Clinton’s podcast. A prominent supporter criticized the podcast, suggesting that it aligns with Kennedy’s narrative that the country is fundamentally ill. “I just heard Chelsea Clinton’s anti-Maha podcast,” the comment read. “The argument presented suggests that while RFK may be dealing with serious health issues, questioning the mainstream viewpoint is deemed ‘dangerous.'”
