TCU Faces Allegations of Discrimination Over Upcoming Event

Chloe Cole, who speaks on transgender issues, has criticized Texas Christian University (TCU) for allegedly making it difficult for Turning Point USA to hold an event she is slated to attend. She suggests the university is engaging in viewpoint discrimination.

In response, TCU firmly denies any claims of anti-Christian bias. “They made us jump through a lot of hoops,” Cole remarked, adding that she heard from various students and staff about a history of discrimination against Christian and conservative voices on campus.

The event is scheduled for October 7th, and Cole is expected to be a key speaker. She asserts that TCU has attempted to disregard Turning Point USA’s efforts to set up chapters at the university.

She stated, “We notified them weeks in advance about this event, and they were clear that we could expect over 600 attendees.”

A TCU spokesperson maintained that “faith-based student organizations are not facing any additional obstacles to hosting events at TCU,” emphasizing their welcoming stance towards Christian activities, including a recent memorial service hosted by the TPUSA chapter.

The spokesperson explained that, on October 7th, they had no venues available for events expecting up to 1,000 attendees, and they were actively looking for alternatives for that date.

Concerns have arisen among conservatives and Texas officials, particularly after rumors suggested the event might be relocated. Attorney General Ken Paxton and Republican Representative Chip Roy have expressed intentions to investigate the situation.

TCU refuted claims of cancellation, stating that the event had never been formally booked. They highlighted that a TPUSA event was successfully executed on September 18th, commemorating the work of Charlie Kirk. Cole claims that when she sought further assistance from TCU regarding this matter, she was told, “there would be no further discussion about the issue.”

In the meantime, TCU’s position remains clear: they are committed to providing a space for diverse viewpoints, even though some alumni argue that the university has historically discriminated against faith-based conservative events.
