Vikings Edge Out Browns in Close Game

The Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback, Carson Wentz, connected with wide receiver Jordan Addison for a game-winning touchdown in the final moments of their matchup against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. This late score brought the Vikings ahead, sealing the game at 21-17, just 25 seconds before the clock ran out.

As the game wound down, the Vikings managed to hold off the Browns’ rookie quarterback, Dilongabriel, ensuring their victory. Interestingly, Addison had a quiet start, sitting out the first quarter but then stepping up significantly during the final drive. He notched three consecutive receptions, culminating in that crucial touchdown, ending the game with five catches totaling 41 yards.

Wentz faced a bit of adversity himself. He sustained a left shoulder injury before halftime but pressed on, finishing the game with a strong 25 completions on 34 attempts, amassing 236 yards and that key touchdown. He certainly took some hits along the way, being sacked three times, but his favorite target was, quite notably, star receiver Justin Jefferson.

Jefferson showcased his skills, recording seven catches from 11 targets, racking up 123 yards. He played an instrumental role early in the drive, making significant catches that set them up for the game-winning touchdown rather than just a tie-ensuring field goal.

On the other hand, rookie quarterback Dilongabriel kept the Browns competitive. He threw a touchdown pass to David Nukok that put Cleveland in the lead during the third quarter. However, they couldn’t add to that score in the fourth, and their attempts to advance faltered as time wound down.

It’s worth mentioning, though, that the Browns’ efforts on offense weren’t entirely lacking. Gabriel completed 19 passes out of 33 attempts for 190 yards, including two touchdown passes, and showed promise throughout. Another rookie, Quinshon Judkins, had a noteworthy game, rushing for 110 yards on 23 carries, although one of his standout runs—a impressive near 52-yard touchdown—was called back due to a penalty. The Browns struggled overall, racking up 10 penalties for 78 yards, which certainly didn’t help their cause.

With this victory, the Vikings improved their record to 3-2, while the Browns now sit at 1-4.
